 R&R tropic inn

Oki last entry abt Sri Lanka.. i really wanna write down everything that happened man.. but i might have forgotten qt a few aspects of it haha..

For the last 2 days we went tropic inn for our R&R.. and we also visited the apparent '8th wonder of the world' that was emerging.. as so claimed.. called sri griya(darnoe how to spell it).. it was a 5 hour bus ride there and a 6+ hr bus ride back.. but all in all i would say that the travelling time was worth it.. coz this stone fortress was magnificent(will post pics soon!) yepp and added to our historical knowledge.. the king had 500 wives la! and the palace had a club at the top of the mountain and many swimming pools.. there was the winter palace too it was massive.. haha when we got bac we had german dinner.. which was qt ex but goodz haha

yeah then we went shopping the 2nd day ohhh and had hilton international buffet! hhahaha it was damnnnn gd so yummy! there was sri lankan food, chinese food, western everything la! and the best part was the water-- pure ice cold water! coz we had been drinking water fr mineral bottles for 12 days yepps.. shopped at odeo and a local market after that was pretty dangerous the place.. yepp then headed to airport..

it was kinda sad leaving man.. but well i wouldn't want to stay that long either... but well the ppl i got to know and the experience i had was really enriching=) yayyy haha i luv u alchemies!=)

 SriLanka-- BIH

Well next we went to BIH--Boys Industrial Home for the next 7 days, where our main objective i felt was to clean scrape, cement, plaster and paint the 2 dormitories and the dining hall. Will post pics up soon!! hahah when i get them!=) well the walls and rooms were really in terrible condition and i rem amy saying we sweep sweep sweep it's still as dusty and that was how demoralising.. but well we managed to clean everything and give the walls an even coat of paint.. and well the change was just miraculous..

Manual work is not easy i realised coz u do the same thing over and over again.. we scraped the same stupid walls for how many hours each day but thank goodness there was music hahahha and we had our 2 classic songs: so sick and the shakira song hahahha so funny la i rem.. heh i dl both songs!! hahhaha

Well at the end of each day we would play with the kids.. frisbee or soccer etc. in their big field.. haha the kids here were actually quite nice too just that we did not get to interact with them as much.. but they would always come while we were painting to help us paint or scrape etc heh
oh and on the first day this naughty boi called sudesh started calling me red shirt fiona hahahha and nw the whole alchemy team calls me tt sho retardeD! hahahah and he did it with tt funny roll tongue thingy which i can't do for nuts!

Well on the last day they put up a performance for us.. and it was super duper funny coz we were saying maybe they would put up the same performance as that at SFH and they did!! hahahha but the performance all in all was pretty cool.. oh and then each child actually drew a card for us where they all signed.. it was handmade, simple but so super duper sweeeeet=) heh and they gave us tea too.. oh and last but most beautifully Prabhul who gave me the card actually gave me his pendant cross when we were actually on the bus leaving!! i felt so badddd i wanted to give smth back but everything in my pouch was like wallet, coins, torchlight?!! and nothing significant=( it's like they were willing to give up so much just for mere passer-bys like us? but nonetheless it was a really sweeet gesture, we should appreciate everybody who comes along shouldn't we?=)

it was funny when i left coz i regretted not spending enough time and effort interacting with the children.. they were different from those at SFH but they were still sweet and well children at heart..and somehow we had touched them more than we knew.. i just wonder whether or not we did actually leave a larger void in them than it did before.. and not giving them the same care, concern and attention we did to the SFH boys only struck a larger chord in me..

Next stop: R&R!!! haha at tropic inn and yummilicious food!

 SriLanka-- SFH

So many things have happened since the last post.. sri lanka and the orientation workshop mainly..
words just cannot express enough what happened at sri lanka-- but all I can say is that it was a really enriching experience, that allowed pretty much all the alchemies to appreciate the lil things in life... hahah

oki hmm we went to SFH-- St Francis's Home for the first 3 days, where we played and interacted with the children.. They were jus so damn sweet can't help but smile when i think of them..
When we arrived, we were welcomed with flowers for the girls and wreaths for the guys.. with traditional drum rolls etc, sho sweeeet!! haha and when we took photos with them using our digicams, they would just flock to the camera after that, coz they were just so plain amazed by the tech that they had never seen b4... makes us out to be really lucky ppl isn't it.. then after that we had tea with the warden.. the tea is like the ULtiMatE thing ever la! the taste was just heavenly haha then we started drinking tea everyday.. the warden took care of the children really well and us too.. the children actually willingly gave up their beds for us to sleep so actually our accomodation was pretty comfortable, junkai thought we were gonna slp at the playgrnd man! hahahah and tt's jus tt for the first day which was super remarkable already..

the next 2 days(day time) we spent cementing the tiles that they made and interacting with the kids. Wah the kids are really fast learners as to the games, and not just that, their plain enthusiasm and energy is amazing. we played captain's ball, soccer etcetc they taught us their traditional game cricket! They can just run up and down like monkeys man.. hahah ohhhh and they had several nicknames for a few of us, adrian was monkey, i was aket--meaning sister, Geraldine(G) was u-ra--pig hahhah, kelvin was waso-patia--cow etc.. at first i din noe what aket meant then wenduan just loved them calling me tt(maybe he tot it was some swear word or smth haha) so the stoopid idiot jus kept on throwing the frisbee to me and each time i got the frisbee they'll scream aketaketaket.. but aft tt when i knew what the word meant well it meant a great deal to me.. and i thought to myself that all of us could and i would want to touch their lives just as much as they've touched ours..

then on the 2nd night we had some dance thing haha the kids used simple traditional drums to make music and the rest of them dragged us to the 'dance floor' hahha act it was just some grass patch.. but it felt like mambo hahhaha it was damnnnn fun i think i went 'high'.. but the kids can dance damn well man.. and well it felt like then and there i could just do anything i wanted without anyone judging me or all the social stares and norms? ya.. the feeling of absolute carefreeness..

yupps and we had mass together too, in both sinhalese and english.. it was so simple but sweet=) but what struck me was that these children did not have much but they were happy and they had so much love in them--God's love.. and perhaps we should learn from them isn't it??=)

the 3rd night in which we had to leave, they put up a performance for us and so did we...
the little ones sang a few songs including jesus loves the lil children hahah it was damn cute and the older ones put up a dance item breakdancing etcetc they are so super talented! haha
oh and we sang peace like a river, did friendship dance and sang pass it on..
after that we had a nicee dinner, ohhh the food they gave us for the 3 days were nicee.. local delights i rem was the curd with honey, TEA and rice cake.. yupp haha

that night knowing that we had to leave the next morning was just super saddening.. hai one of dem told me no go no go, which jus broke my heart into a million pieces la but all i could say was to study hard make life's worth and well pray and wish them all the best.. oh wells hopefully we did give them a memorable exp..

haha this's SFH for nw.. next post BIH- Boys' Industrial Home!
